Organically grown in Southern Australia on the banks of the Murray River, Hidden Rock has just released a 2009 Shiraz, but what makes this drop different from the rest is not only its remarkable origins but also its new and innovative packaging. This charming new 1.5 Litre easy-to-carry Astrapouch was packaged in Belgium to further offset carbon omissions and is the latest 100% recyclable packing to come onto the market.
Introducing the Astrapouch, a sleek, intelligent and eco-friendly way to bring your wine home and chill it faster with the same layers that make the pouch durable also helping to chill your wine faster. The cork is history too; the pouch’s nozzle dispenses wine without letting oxygen in so your wine stays fresh from the first to last glass. Amazingly the pouch has an 85% reduced carbon footprint compared to glass. By weight the pouch is 98% wine and 2% packaging. A smaller, lighter container means less greenhouse gasses are emitted during production than glass bottles, which means less impact on the earth. The big picture: one truckload of empty pouch’s equals 30 truckloads of empty glass bottles.
